In January 2014, coinciding with its 60th anniversary, CERN created an office for medical applications. Led by Steve Myers, former Director of accelerators and technology at CERN, the main purpose of this office is the stimulation and coordination of medical physics activities concerned with developments in accelerators, detectors and software. The CERN Medical Applications (CMA) office will also act as a coordinator in transnational networking, bringing together physicists, biologists, medical practitioners and industrial partners, consolidating efforts to establish CERN as an important facilitator of medical physics in Europe. |
